Fort Worth's Green River Ordinance, not to be confused with Mark Arm and Stone Gossard's recently reunited Sub Pop band, will release its major label debut early next year on EMI/Virgin, according to a press release from EMI music.

Out Of My Hands, the follow-up to the band's independent 2006 release The Beauty of Letting Go, is due February 24, 2009. The band's slick Third-Eye-Blind-meets-Coldplay alt-rock earned them Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards for Best New Band of 2003, Best Live Band in 2004, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year in 2006, and Artist of the Year again this year. But apparently their sound wasn't polished enough, so the guys worked with producers Mark Endert, Jordan Critz and Paul Ebersold (who list such cutting-edge rockers as Maroon 5, Sister Hazel and 3 Doors Down on their resumes).

"The resulting album will be familiar to the band's hardcore fans while reflecting the additional time and expertise that went into its creation," promises the press release. --Jesse Hughey
