Original Butthole Surfers Lineup To Play The Granada On October 22

• the first time i saw the surfers was in austin and i have to admit that i was scared. when gibby brought a dog out on stage, i figured the crowd was gonna be witness to something way to sick to imagine, but gibby and crew just serenaded that pooch with some of their trademark noise. the best backing film was the penis reconstruction one! i can't wait to see them again. don;t forget that drummer king vitamin was once jeff coffey of ft. worth's hugh beaumont experience. the hbe's lone album was called "no soup til hammersmith" and was produced by bob mould of husker du! too many memories.

• I don't wanna come off like some kind of big shot but I played basketball against Gibby when I was at Plano and he was at Lake Highlands. I still see his dad shopping at the Tom Thumb

• One of my best memories of Deep Ellum (back when it was in its infancy and still vibrant and dangerous at the same time) was seeing the Surfers with the late, great Loco Gringos at the also late/great Theater Gallery. Man, I loved that dive! Great show and only $8! Got an excellent T-shirt from the show that my kids still wear for only $6. I remember the Surfer's show with the grisly 1950's era drivers ed films being projected behind them, car wrecks and dead drivers and all. Not to mention the topless chicks that would dance with them on stage. Also saw them at the late/great Longhorn Ballroom, but the TG gig still stands out after all these years. Oops, I think I just talked myself into seeing them again in October!

• I remember going to one of their shows at the Arcadia Theater (wow, many years ago) looked behind me and there was Jerry Haynes sitting back and enjoying the show. Of course he wasn't wearing the Peppermint outfit, that would have been cool. He's always been very supportive.
