Dylan Sneed Is Leaving Town This Weekend--But Not Before One Last Show

A few weeks ago, I reported that local singer/songwriter Dylan Sneed was leaving Dallas for the greener pastures of Hartsville, South Carolina.

Well, the time is nigh upon us, as Sneed’s last local performance is this Saturday at the newest location of Opening Bell Coffee (300 N. Akard St.). It's being called "Texodus", and the show will feature a host of guest performances by the likes of Doug Burr, Ryan Thomas Becker, Eaton Lake Tonics, Pherigo, Becky Middleton, Taylor Davis, Lalagray, Jacob Metcalf and The Beaten Sea. That’s quite a send off!

The suggested donation at the door for this show is $15, but I’ve been told they’ll take anything they can get. But you can definitely get your money's worth at this one: The show starts at 4:00 and goes until midnight. Then Sneed will pack up his gear and drive his Toyota 4-runner eastward.

All I know is that Sneed's No Worse for the Wear EP was one of my favorite local releases last year, showcasing both keen wordplay and a nice Paul Simon influence. Perhaps a great turnout will dissuade Sneed from leaving our fare burg, but chances are slim. In any case, "Texodus" is as good a collection of local songwriters as has been assembled in some time.

Question is: where is Sneed’s touring buddy Kristy Kruger? --Darryl Smyers

The "Glide" knows a good time when he sees it.
