That sea...so arrogant right now...that sea... (Melanie Gomez)

If you can’t wait until the October release of Family Family Family Meets The Magic Christian on Nova Posta Vinyl, you can hear Matthew and the Arrogant Sea tomorrow night at Sons of Hermann Hall, where they headline SEED, an Art Conspiracy fund-raiser.

But don’t expect it to be a perfect representation of the forthcoming album. The band’s live show usually bears little resemblance to their hushed, echoey recorded material--which is completely intentional, as Matthew Gray told Dave Sims in this week’s North of the Dial column.

Robert Gomez was kind enough to share this beautiful MATAS rendition of Bob Dylan’s “The Man In Me,” which will not included on Family but certainly deserves a listen or two.

Gomez, as you’ll recall, co-owns Nova Posta Vinyl along with Midlake guitarist Eric Pulido.

Also playing at SEED will be Beauxregard, Spector 45 and Pet Hospital. And if the music lineup isn’t enough for you, you’ll also have the chance to bid on artwork and journals from local artists including Angela Faz, Serena Wills and Pleasant Grove’s Marcus Striplin, among others. --Jesse Hughey
