Bits: The Feds, Opium Symphony, The Fieros, Black Tie Dynasty

No sleep 'til Brooklyn for The Fieros.
The Feds will be doing an all-acoustic set this Friday, May 30, at R Bar. They'll be playing for at least an hour, and in addition to just playing the normal electric set with acoustic guitars, they're promising to throw in some songs off of A Touch of Panic that never get live attention.

We were a little surprised to see that Dallas' Opium Symphony (the band that tried to start an anti-voting movement) is also doing some acoustic shows. Vocalist and guitarist Kellen Ross says the group wants to try something new ...and the shows will be free. Admittedly, I'm pretty curious. The first of four acoustic shows this summer is 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Bill's Records.

Looks like The Fieros (formerly The Valentines) are leaving us. The band is moving to Brooklyn, and Friday's show at Club Dada is its going-away party. the band will play at midnight with McKenzie Smith of Midlake filling in on drums. Also, the band claim the CD is finished. No details yet, though.

Just got another video from the Black Tie Dynasty show that everyone is saying was killer. Scope the band playing “Down Like Anyone” -- which is the title track on BTD's forthcoming LP. -- Chelsea Mueller
