The Angelus ain't dead just yet.

Emil Rapstine just let us know that his band The Angelus has returned a changed band after a six-month hiatus and the loss of its bassist and keyboardist. Matt Chaney takes over on bass, but the band hasn’t yet replaced the keyboardist--and Rapstine isn’t sure the band ever will.

The new lineup debuts tomorrow night at Lola’s Saloon in Funkytown. The Angelus’s droning, heavy folk rock should fit perfectly on the bill with Nick Foreman’s Denton-based ramshackle folk act Dust Congress and with Colorado-based headliner Woven Hand, which sounds something like Paul Banks singing and chanting over droning, tribal rock. Doors are at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 10 p.m.

You’ll have to wait until May 10 to catch The Angelus again, when it plays Rubber Gloves. –Jesse Hughey
