Sloppyworld still accepting donations

If you’re an e-friend of John Freeman--or his defunct DIY venue--chances are you recently received a bulletin item letting you know that you can still donate toward Sloppyworld’s outstanding legal fees.

We spoke to the Dutch Treat today, and he clarified (again) that Sloppyworld will not reopen. Even if he could navigate through the city’s mind-boggling permitting process and get everything kosher, his lease is up in January.

“There’s probably no chance of reopening,” he says. “[The donations are] basically to pay the fees for three citations we got while entertaining the city of Dallas, including two from Melodica.”

Locals have already donated about $200 toward the fees, which total about $1,700. You, too, can donate through PayPal at the Sloppyworld Web site. –Jesse Hughey
