Thanks for the Indie Music Fest, Bend Studio!

Hoots and Hellmouth. (Doug Seymour)
Would it behoove any venue to simply have its own mini-fest while all these bands are migrating south to Austin for SXSW and back north when it’s done? I can appreciate the slew of shows happening all over DdFW, but cover charge and tickets start to rack up and at $3 a gallon for gas, I’d just as soon stick to one place. Deep Ellum, Lower Greenville, heck, Addison …can y’all give that some thought? Thanks.

Of all the places, Bend Studio on McKinney Avenue is booking its own Intimate Indie Music Fest. The yoga studio/cozy music venue has the smarts to take advantage and is offering a week of traveling acts from March 12 to 16 including the likes of Philadelphia’s Hoots and Hellmouth, L.A.’s AM, Meiko and Steve Poltz and the Cynics. You know we love us some music fests (ahem) so we hope to check it out. Or at least those of us who aren’t going to SXSW (double ahem). If you act now, you can get the whole week for $65. Passes and individual show tickets are available on the Bend site.

Bend is sometimes hard to find, so pay attention to directions. Also, being a yoga studio, you'll be asked to take your shoes off before entering the main room. So clip your toenails, wear nice clean socks and get some Odor Eaters. -- Rich Lopez

This is great but the link for AM is broken. It should be www.myspace.com/amsounds. Impossible to Google but very cool

Rich says:

Ahh, thanks for that Kate. And his official site is amsounds.com for the non-myspace inclined.

Rock and Roll and Yoga. they oughta book Jerry Lee Lewis at this place.
