Over The Weekend: Anonymous Runway Exhibit, Festivus, Collision

It was too damn cold this weekend. We know we shouldn't bitch, it could be colder (or so our moms remind us). On the upside, there were a couple seriously awesome shindigs this weekend. Scope our favorites below.

Anonymous Runway Exhibit at Lifestyle Fashion Terminal

We oohed and aahed over Jeanette Antolin's latest threads at this charity fashion show (put on with the help of The Anonymous Gallery). Of course, it didn't hurt that he casual men's wear was strutted by Dallas Cowboys players DeMarcus Ware, Jason Whitten, Kevin Burnett and Bobby Carpenter. Other Cowboys, including Quincy Butler, came out to show support at the Saturday night event. Plus, the proceeds are going toward enhancing art programs in public schools.

Festivus at Sloppyworld

There are plenty of ways Seinfeld has merged into our everyday speak. Soup Nazi references happen all the time. Your mom probably throws out “yada yada yada.” But we much prefer to keep one remnant of the show alive: Festivus. Our buddy Reid from Shanghai 5 brought together some good, fun locals to celebrate the holiday for the rest of us, including Laura Palmer, the drag revue Dukes of Dallas, Hal Samples, Cottonmouth, Texas and, of course, Shanghai 5. There was dancing, laughing and plenty of drinking (we dig the whole BYOB thing).

Collision III at Continental Art Gallery

Talented local artists (Clint Scism, Ange Fitzgerald, Mark Nelson and Havi Frost), a couple sweet Dallas bands (Lovie, Red Monroe), a bus load of drunk Santas (!) and hot roller derby chicks, what more can you ask for on a Saturday night? We think not.

Gil Mantera's Party Dream, Faux Fox, Prince William at Hailey's

What can we say, it was a dance weekend. A couple DC-9ers hit up the Spune's Christmas Dance Party Sunday night. Following Big D's Faux Fox and Prince William getting everyone toasty, we giggled and danced to electro-pop flavors from Ohio's Gil Mantera's Party Dream. -- Chelsea Ide
