Bits: Old 97's New Year's Plans, Shorelines End Album Update

Categories: DFW Music News
The Old 97's want to be your New Year's Eve date.
We've caught wind of a couple local music tidbits that may be of interest.

1. If you're already sick of seeing winter holiday gear in stores, then you probably aren't planning your New Year's Eve yet. However, for the Old 97's we're willing to flip ahead in our calendar. The band confirms it will be playing Dallas' Longhorn Ballroom December 31.

2. Shorelines End has finished recording its new disc. The album is being mixed and mastered right now, and the band says it'll be finished soon. Those wanting a taste of the new tunes can catch Shorelines End with The New Frontiers, Homer Hiccolm & The Rocketboys and Hundred Year Storm at Plano's Rocksteady Friday, November 2. Show kicks off at 6 p.m. and costs $10.

3, Bless The Broken's lead guitarist Robert has quit the band. In a MySpace bulletin and blog the band says there are no hard feelings toward the BTB guitarist of five years. However, there is no replacement yet. Anyone interested in taking his spot as lead guitarist (and who lives in Dallas) should contact the band via BTB's MySpace.

4. Memphis May Fire has a track coming out on a Hot Topic sampler this month. Other bands on the disc include Chiodos and Saosin. The disc will be available in the mall goth store starting November 13. -- Chelsea Ide
