P.P.T. Crew Video and Skinny on S.P.E.A.K. Project

Categories: DFW Music News

Fort Worth’s smartest, most animated, most illin’-est* hip-hop crew P.P.T. just sent out the video to its latest single, “Down South Girl,” from the group's Idol Records release Tres Monos in Love. Waco hip-hop band Strange Fruit Project lent a huge hand to P.P.T. by producing the video and appearing on the song with some featured vocals. Check it:

The video release comes just as P.P.T. has accepted a spot on the roster for the first S.P.E.A.K. Project concert, alongside Black Tie Dynasty, The Burning Hotels, The Cut*Off and DJ sets by Prince William. The S.P.E.A.K. Project has the potential of being the coolest thing you’ll ever find that’s associated with STDs. Founded in 2007 by Kevin Ryan, the S.P.E.A.K. project is a coalition of non-profits working to raise awareness of STDs/HIV and substance abuse. Because, you know, it’s more fun to become aware of these things via a pamphlet than via a burning sensation, when it’s too late.

A mere ten bucks is all it takes to get your STD schoolin’ and your groove on, according to BTD singer Cory Watson, who is featured on S.P.E.A.K’s PSA. The show will be Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Ridglea Theater.

*Note: Use of the term “illin’-est” is meant as a parody of our own geekiness. We here at DC-9 do not condone the serious use of this term, and we are aware it has not been used in any non-ironic form since 1988. We apologize if our use of the term “illin’-est” offended anyone. We are aware that use of the term may cause indigestion, blindness and/or limping.
