Eight Dallas Restaurants with Great Patios and Great Food: It's Rarer Than You Think

A burger and a patio: never a bad idea.
Bolsa
We awarded the title of Best Patio to Bolsa, but I'll be the first to assert that a patio alone does not make a particularly great place to dine outside. We also given Bolsa a Best Burger nod, called it the Best Place To Take A Date, and well, we've certainly told you about the chicken. Bolsa's patio just screams first date, but the food and cocktails will bring you back for more, dining partner optional.

Toulouse Cafe & Bar
Fancy a quick trip to France? Francophiles will delight in the Parisian Patio at Toulouse on Knox Street, where pups are welcome and Chef Yoann Lardeux turns out classic French fare like soufflés, salads niçoise and pommes frites along with specials scribbled in chalk on boards scattered about. Casual yet chic enough to impress, Toulouse is an outdoor pleasure you can indulge in any day of the week.

Rise No. 1
Not to dwell on soufflés, or the French for that matter, but another outdoor space worth mentioning happens to be next on the list. Rise features a delicious selection of the fluffy, eggy, delicate specialty, as well as a few salads, a unique take on tomato soup and possibly the best cheese cart in town. Tucked inside Inwood Village, the covered patio at Rise is great place to escape with a sparkling cocktail and conversation to match.

That list should help you get started enjoying the fresh air while it's still fresh. Don't dilly dally; summer is almost here and dining in the nude is still illegal last time I checked.

the food served on hg sply co's patio is borderline inedible which is such a disappointment given the ambiance and potential. the chicken on the nachos tastes boiled and the pulled pork sandwich is served on a supergrain bun. If anyone has eaten anything worth eating up there, please share.

Fooddick here:

"Right about now is when you want to get outside on a nice patio"....really?  Is that how downtwoners and Park Cities residents get back to nature?   Let's see, it's 91 out right now, humid and a slight breeze; which makes it feel like 100.  I'm sorry, that doesn't sound fun, it sounds shallow, kinda boring and kind of like a timewaste.   What are you going to look at?  The one hill south of downtown, or the only tree within 80 miles!?  Then you are going to get yer ass whipped by people in flat billed hats....oy veh.

Fooddick out trendy Dallasites; only one full step behind the Northeast, and two behind the West Coast.

The patio at Toulouse is dog-friendly, but not the others, as far as I know.

@3rddegree The bowls can be excellent.  The one with duck ("Hunted"?) is wonderful.  The burger is great, too.

@kergo1spaceship Calm down! I love patios because I thrive in the heat and love the sunlight. I'm usually kayaking in this weather or cycling. How is sitting outside to eat considered 'shallow' just because *you* deem it necessary to hide inside in the dark A/C?

Sincerely, not-rich food-lover with puppy and a Honda Fit.

@kergo1spaceship These are the very same people that drive M-B, BMW, Jaguar, Porsche, Aston Martin and like convertibles with the TOP DOWN on 95 degree days with 75% humidity.
