Fuel City Is Growing, Still Has a Swimming Pool for Some Reason

Fuel City
Feeding our need for more tacos faster, Fuel City has recently undergone an expansion. The gas station and so much more below the tangle of I-30 and I-35 has recently doubled its kitchen space and now passes tacos out of four windows. This is certainly great news if it means we get our tacos faster, particularly in the wee hours of the morning, when the people-watching is interesting, but not interesting enough to make us wait for our tacos.

Chosen as the Best Late-Night Restaurant in the 2013 Observer Best of issue, there are many reasons to love this spot. If not for the pastor, picadillo or barbacoa tacos at just $1.40 each, then for the zebra out back. Or one of the four donkeys. And how many gas stations have a swimming pools? (Better question, why does this gas station have a swimming pool?)

Fuel City is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with breakfast tacos from 5 to 10 a.m. All Fuel City tacos are served street-style with diced onions, lime, cilantro, jalapeño and hot sauce.

They have a pool.  Not sure it can be called a swimming pool, as I've never seen anybody so much as dip a toe in it.

let's review, shall we:

"Chosen as the Best Late-Night Restaurant in the 2013 Observer Best of issue"..........so wrong, on so many levels; even Jack in the Box is better.

"there are many reasons to love this spot"..........when I was younger I drove through the drive -thru, and chicks in bikini's were running the register; I was sold!   And it was, back in the day,  the only spot close to Industrial where you didn't feel like your life was in danger.

ps-And they had Bison, Buffalo's, whatever, for the kids to throw those nasty taco's at.  I distinctly remember standing at FC back in the day, and someone saying....."so this is Texas?" , and I thought to myself, NO this is NOT Texas; Texas is not a nasty floodplain, with tons of hookers and bums, and a bunch of pinned in animals set up for "pittures".....then I realized this was Texas, and went to the Ozarks!
