Downtown Dallas brewery Peticolas Brewing Co. is making a name for itself, not only for its beer but for its beer names. Like "Sit Down or I'll Sit You Down" (an Imperial IPA), which, while a mouthful, is certainly the start to a few good jokes.

This week Peticolas is introducing a new beer for Saint Patrick's Day that also has a rich name: "Irish Goodbye," an Irish red ale with 6.5-percent ABV. This new beer will debut at The Blind Butcher on Wednesday, then roll into the rest of the market by the end of the week.

Michael Peticolas, founder of Peticolas, explains that an Irish goodbye is when a friend disappears from an event or gathering with nary a word. Just "poof" -- they're gone. It can be simply slipping out the back door when no one is looking, or a trip to the ladies' room that never ends. It's when someone departs a scene without making a big to-do about it; maybe they know tears will be involved, but probably it's because of puking.

The Irish evidently get to claim this maneuver as their own, according to one theory anyway, because during the Potato Famine of 1845 many Irish, including Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, departed without a Tweet nor Facebook post.

Peticolas describes his new beer as a "beautiful copper red color with a rocky off-white head and a low fruity-ester aroma. Candy like caramel malt sweetness is enhanced by a subtle degree of roasted malt, which adds a level of complexity to this medium bodied beer. Hop flavor and bitterness are also present, but not overpowering."

And it'll make you disappear.

"And it'll make you disappear."

I beg to differ sir. I plan on making a few of them disappear first.

You all need a new picture of Micheal. That one is creepy.

Beer sounds good. Can't wait to try it.

Sadly, St. Pats Day is no longer about beer; it's about a bunch of people that look like Honey Boo Boo's mom, fighting over candy at the parade.

Beer is good food. Peticolas' beer is fine cuisine. Shall stop by blind butcher after work on Wed and give it a try.

You know the old saying: "Like a sandwich in every bottle - who wants lunch?"
