Jimmy Kimmel Thinks Austin's Barbecue Is Worth a Laugh

Categories: Food News

There's a good chance Jimmy Kimmel is holed up in a hotel room this morning with high sodium and cholesterol levels, and an old-fashioned case of the meat sweats. There's an even better chance that a few Austin barbecue joints will be featured on his show sometime this March.

The late night talk show host was spotted in and around Austin this weekend, plowing his way through some of the city's most notable barbecue restaurants. BBQ Snob Daniel Vaughn caught him in this tweet; D Magazine's Carol Shih caught him in person.

Kimmel was in Austin filming for an upcoming segment that will air during SXSW next month, according to Shih. He dropped in on Franklin first, then stopped by Micklethwait Craft Meats and John Mueller Meat Co. before wrapping up his meatventure at John Lewis' La Barbecue -- all this in a longhorn-adorned convertible with his sidekick Guillermo.

SXSW runs from March 3-15 so you may have to watch a lot of Jimmy Kimmel to catch the segment, but it just may be worth it for the chance to hear Guillermo pronounce Mueller and Micklethwait with a little barbecue sauce on his chin.

Don't give a shit what Jimmy ate in another city.

However, I did get to see Hillary Swank at Al's yesterday.

Anybody who knows anything about Austin BBQ gets in their car and drives to Lockhart.

Kimmel will be broadcasting from Austin during SXSW.  Surely will be a great week of TV.

[Dickhead meat-hipster comment about some bullshit obscure BBQ van being the best in Austin.]

He's got going to be filming in Austin during SXSW as well, tickets are wait listed already .

@AdamsonScott  Kruez Market sucks! Anybody in Austin who knows anything about good BBQ stays in Austin and go's to Franklin BBQ, J. Muller BBQ, Stiles Switch BBQ, or La Barbeque. And if you're going outside Austin proper for BBQ, you're going to Taylor for Louis Mueller's great BBQ.
