Richie Whitt, Sports Writer and Talker, Has a New Pizza-and-Beer Delivery Service

Remember Richie Whitt? He was the sports columnist for the Observer for six years before he was lost to layoffs in 2011 and went into radio full-time. His loyal commenters, a real haggard bunch, laid siege on City of Ate after he left, peppering the blog with unsavory comments and a few good recipes. Whitt has had a few other adventures in and around Dallas, but he has just returned to stir the pot again with his announcement of Pizza Buzz, a pizza and beer delivery service he says in the first of its kind in Fort Worth.

It's not the first in Texas, though.

A group of franchised Pizza Hut locations in Amarillo, McKinney, Allen and Frisco have been delivering beer and pies since 2009 as part of a pilot program that just sort of never ended. Ashlie Marquez, a spokesperson for the group of restaurants, seems indifferent about the program. "It hasn't driven a lot of sales," she said, noting only a small group of customers take advantage of the service.

Maybe that's because they're not marketing the service with a picture of a pizza fist bumping a cold one.

Certainly there are already drunk people sitting on a couch wishing they had more pizza, and more beer. Whitt's attempting to capitalize on the already drunk and hungry, offering specials tied to the Dallas Cowboys. A win gets you buy-one-get-one-free pie. But sadly, the beer is still regular price.

Check out his website for more information.

IMO ...... They were booted because the "show" became the Richie and Sybil soap opera ...... ughhhh ....... everytime they started in about the "boyfriend" / "girlfriend" BS ... I tuned out and turned the station.

When ! ..... they talked about sports it was a 5 or 6 out of 10.

Wanted to like Greggo, but he was just too slippery and didn't trust him even on the air with his holy than thou opinions on EVERYTHING that they spoke about on the air.

Good Riddance to the show ......  hopefully, RW will learn his lessons and do the right thing on the air if given another opportunity .......

Thanks ..... my 2 cents

Still here, more than can be said for Richie Shitt's writing and radio careers and his hairline. Who'd of thought that the hat on the pizza bruh would be turned backwards? Bet if you look really close he has a livestrong bracelet and a couple of CZ studs in it's ear.

I was and still am one of the RW commentariat. I still lurk around here and did participate in the City of Ate invasion and make forays in there when it suits me. Most recently it was someone casting aspersions on the greatness of Tex-Mex. RW still gets trolled over at the blogspot of the same Sportatorium moniker and we remain quite unsavory

Man, I live if Frisco and I never knew it was available to me. Ultimately it depends on what beer is being offered. If it is the trifecta of Miller Lite, Bud Lite, and Coors Lite then I am most definitely out

Pizza beer fist bump! It's a great idea. Also, I just comment to myself most of the time around here. Go to Unfair Park if you want to see all the libtard/Obummer comments.

This place is dead now that most of the Sportatorium commentors have disapeared. Like a ghost town in here most days. Oh well.

the key to the success of this would be proximity to college campuses or highly dense areas with 20 somethings like uptown or the village.

That's not too far from me. I'll try it out and get back at you guys.

I'll also troll him if he's there.
