Paula Deen, the undisputed queen of Butter n' N-Bombs, is headed to Dallas next month, as the central figure in a MetroCooking event series at the Dallas Convention Center.

Deen, of course, made news this summer when a deposition documented her use of racial slurs. The downward spiral was quick, marked by a missed appearance on the Today Show and a series of YouTube video apologies that seemed to do more harm than good.

The case against Deen was dismissed earlier this week. The judge stated that the plaintiff Lisa Jackson had not proved her claim, and was at best an accidental victim of the alleged discrimination. Deen is off the hook legally, but she's still lost her Food Network shows, numerous endorsements and relationships with retailers that carry her products.

MetroCooking has a statement on their website addressing Deen's inclusion in the event. "Paula Deen has been a friend of the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show for many years," it reads. The statement goes on to say that while they don't condone racial slurs, "this is a nation of forgiveness and second chances," and that they plan to go forward with Deen as a presenter.

This will be Deen's first appearance in Dallas since the scandal erupted. The show runs September 21-22, and will be held at the Dallas Convention Center. Tickets can be purchased at the MetroCooking website.

Yep. Disagree with anything related to minorities and you're racist. I'm over it. Maybe I just hate a-holes and sometimes they end up being black.

Queen of the "N" bomb? I haven't heard her say it once. EVERY RAPPER IN AMERICA, on the other hand...

Paul Deen's brand was destroyed by a 20-year old slip up.........What Oprah did last week was worse - a cooked up charge of racism against a store clerk for the sole purpose of promoting a movie.

Someone had a vendetta against her and knew a way to take her down. It worked. She needs to go on about her business and stop begging for forgiveness. How much better it would be if she took this as an opportunity to help people who need help no matter their race. Then she would sleep better at night and what critics say would have no bearing because she would know she did what was right.

Susan if people in the great ol US of Butthurt would just stfu & get over themselves then maybe just maybe racism will go away. and i have every right to complain. you don't know what I've had to deal with personally when it comes to racism.

You have no standing to complain about people who object to racism, Stephani.

Racism doesn't even really come into play until about half way through. The judge dismissed the case based on the race aspect, due to the plaintiff being white. However, there's some real messed up s**t long before page 14 (when racism comes into play). In any case, if what is listed after pg.14 is true, even half of it, she deserves all the face-rubbing, and more. I imagine she's still pretty dang well-off and can take care of herself just fine. Also, these days, it's a fact of life that you have to be aware that any action you make can throw you in the internet's s**t storm at any random moment. Sometimes, it's a good thing, like, "Ridiculously Photogenic Guy", sometimes, the internet finds out you're a racist...

UPDATE: Paula Deen and Oprah will be putting on a racism clinic.

I don't even any longer like Paula Deen but I totally support her in this stupid mess as I think the way she and her support team handle it was ludicrous.  What a bunch of stupid losers and the way when she so pitifully went on TV was just that, pitiful.  Come on woman, stand up, submit your case, fight on and have a back bone.  Even her pictures, as here, are just horribly pitiful.

WTF?! Racist? You're an idiot! 93% of all black deaths are by black people. They are the racists! Killing off their own kind! I LOVE PAUL DEAN!

I don't support her or what she said or did, but can we move on. I'm not as worried about racist ladies who like to cook as much as I am about racist and sexist people in office.

@CitizenKane Right.  calling someone outside their name is better than pointing out that racism still exists no matter how much money you make.  That makes absolute sense ... in no way at all.  Congratulations.  You are a genius.

That may be true but there are tons of people in the area not like her at all. Probably more than she thinks

@Julie Dawn Sacharko How dare you say something so measured and sane! For real, it would be ideal if our public figures knew better than be racially insensitive but she built her brand on a "southern grandma" kind of persona and her n-bomb dropping and love of slave-like waiters is just the dark side of that. I doubt she's a terrible person, she's just not a very thoughtful person.  But her offensive remarks in the past don't have near the impact of, say, gutting the Voting Rights Act.

@beckkidd @CitizenKane You missed the underlying fact;  Oprah lied !

She did it to promote buzz for her new movie...shame on Oprah.  Good on the shop keepers for standing up to Oprah the bully.

@kiddstock

You seem to be thick......

Points 1 , 2 and 5 are not questions.

I answered points 3 and 4 in above responses.

That said,  what proof do you have Oprah is telling the whole truth ?  None.

Damn..I even numbered it so you could keep track of the questions and you still refused to answer or misread them all. I cant break it down any easier and you won't understand anyway. If off this crazy go round.

Have a nice life.

CitizenKane

Might as well hit the "cycle" and call the shop owner (who sided with her clerk) a racist as well!  And do it in ALL CAPS ....

Get it all in while you can.

@kiddstock

Ha...you not only called Deen a racist; you called the store clerk a racist.............gawd, you love throwing that term around.

In this short exchange you have called 3 people you don't know racist !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need sensitivity training.

And no, you first threw the term racist into the mix !

Believe Oprah if you want; your sorry world view demands it.

1. I dont listen to NPR or CNN or Msnbc.

2. Didn't I put in parenthesis at the time she made the statement she was racist. Even 20 years ago Nigger was a bad thing. I don't care if she found god or common sense since then. Sins of her past caught up with her..and she lost fans and respect.

3. What proof do you have besides your jaded world view that Oprah has lied?

4. Do you think black people are still discriminated against today?

5. Didnt you began the name calling with "race baters". I'll wait while you scroll back and check.

CitizenKane

And to answer your question:  Of course there are everyday cases of racism in America.

Now how about you respond to the question I put to you.

CitizenKane
CitizenKane

@kiddstock

You love to throw the slogan "racist" around....does it make you feel better?  It is typical of liberals who can't think...they reflexively call people names.

Blah, blah ,blah and you are regurgitating what you heard on NPR.

Why are you so bent on finding racism in every nook and corner in America...even when it doesn't exist?

Still waiting on you to explain why Deen is a racist today for a 20 year old (one-time) slip for which she profusely apologized !

kiddstock
kiddstock

I notice you didnt answer my question about racism today. My comment... Oprah's comment which she hasn't backed away from... just apologized that it over shadowed the movie.. I notice with you and most hailing from the left that any complaint of racism is race baiting. Call it crying wolf...call it anything you want not to deal with white guilt. You arent saying anything or answering anything. You are just a regurgitation of what you heard on Fox News. They said it...so it must be truth. Talk about skewed world views... try stepping outside of your own for a change.

Have fun trolling other people, I learned what I can from you:

Blah blah goes the racist...

CitizenKane
CitizenKane

@kiddstock

Making claims of phony racism is race baiting. But you are too caught up in your world view to understand the difference.

You are race baiting in this thread by your ridiculous claim that use of the N word 20-years ago makes Deen a racist today.

As for Oprah, you are damn right I believe the version of events as told by the clerk and shop keeper............Oprah was out to promote buzz for a move about race.  What better way than to make up a phony story - a story she thought would never be connected to a specific shop with a specific clerk and owner who would deny Oprah's phony allegation !  It is telling that Oprah is now backing away from the story.

But keep up with your jabbering about racism; the more we hear from race baiters like yourself the better.  Phony drumbeats of racism in ever nook and corner doesn't fly any longer with most Americans.

kiddstock
kiddstock

I love how pointing out racism has become racebaiting... not unlike the new normal of blaming the victim in court. Your stance is what??? That there is no more racism in America?

In what possible light was Paula Dean using the word Nigger in a positive light? You side with the white Paula Dean and a random white forigner because blacks are race-baiters who blow things out of proportion? I'm starting to see a pattern here... I'm wasting my time arguing with yet another racist who probably thinks they are not. For future posts just start of stating you are a bigot so people can skip over your crazy to have real and logical debate with open minded people.

CitizenKane
CitizenKane

@kiddstock The clerk denies the "event" as Oprah described.  I don't believe for a second that the clerk (or store owner is a racist)..I do believe Oprah is capable of fabricating such a story for the purpose of self promotion.

And I can guess what side you chose to align with - Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and the rest of the race baiters.

kiddstock
kiddstock

Funny. You are more willing to forgive an admitted racist (Sorry the time and circumstance she used it in 20 years ago was racist) than believe that Oprah was truthful in a fair question regarding a movie about race relations. Its probably not possible that the employee is embarrassed that THE WORLD NOW KNOWS SHE IS RACIST. Im pretty sure I can guess what side of Trayvon Martin's case you came down on as well. Once again...A Genius.

kiddstock
kiddstock

How did oprah lie? She relayed events as it happened and racism is an part of the movie. She was promoting the butler when someone asked if she still experiences racism. Would it have made you more comfortable if she had lied?
