At Alamo Drafthouse Tonight, Fried Gold, Craft Beer and a Double Feature

Categories: Events, Food News

The Alamo Drafthouse is hosting a Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz double feature tonight, in honor of the final film in the "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy, The World's End. That film, due out in August, is about five friends who reunite for an epic pub crawl during an alien invasion that threatens life on Earth.

The film's writer and director, Edgar Wright, along with actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will be there to partake in the festivities. With any luck they'll be arriving on Cowtown Cycle Party's big bar bike.

Alamo Drafthouse isn't even open yet, but they've been hosting outdoor movie events in their parking lot in the run up to its open. Tonight's screenings are outside on the mobile screen, or Rolling Roadshow, as they call it.

Since Alamo Drafthouse does everything full-tilt, they've partnered with six local breweries to create a true pub crawl. Rahr, 903 Brewers, Community Beer Co., DEBC, Four Corners and Lakewood will all be there for "The Slice of Fried Golden Mile Shortcut" mini pub crawl.

The double feature of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz is free, but the pub crawl is $20 and includes two beer tastings from each brewery. There will also be food trucks at the event.

Bring your own chair if you're inclined to sit. Bonus points if you bring a recliner.

Admittance to the double feature is first come first serve. Per the folks at Alamo Drafthouse, you can go set up your chair at 9:00 a.m. The movie starts 12 1/2 hours later, but if you really want to ensure a prime spot, be there with your chairs at 9. At least one person has to stay there with your junk all day. See all the special details here.

How's that for a slice of fried gold?
