Taverna Rossa to Open at Lakeside Market in Plano

Taverna Rossa
Taverna Rossa Craft Pizza and Beer will open this summer at the Lakeside Market (4005 Preston Road) in Plano. This is a new concept for the same group that owns Palio's Pizza Cafés and Cadillac Pizza Pub in McKinney.

Chef Brian Luscher of the Grape helped create the menu for this spot, which focuses on a "uniquely rustic take on pizza." The pies have thin crusts and are baked in a stone-fired oven. The menu also includes appetizers, salads, pastas and hot sandwiches.

Taverna Rossa has a large waterside patio that can be either cooled or heated, depending on which day of the week it is. It will have live music several nights a week and 24 craft beers on tap plus a large menu of house-made cocktails.

The restaurant is expected to open in June.

My Voice Nation Help

@kergo1spaceship kergs I get out to Plano about once a week and would like to know...who's pizza you recommend? somewhere near old Plano!

Hey C!  In and around Plano I recommend Upper Crust in downtown Plano, Grimaldi's at Watters Creek, or Sal's at S.O.L..........but shite man, if I'm craving good pizza, I gotta TRAVEL to Cane Rosso-shame!  Or make it myself.

ps-Gatti's isn't bad; Domino's is, well you know. My brother in law forced us to eat Cal. Pizza Kitchen one time, and I spent like 20 bucks for a pizza no bigger than my fist....freaking yuppies. So I eat said CPK, and on the way home I have to stop and get Jack in the Box, cause I'm still hungry.

My recommendation:   Go to Broken Bow Oklahoma, secure a cabin in the pines, rent a boat, drink some beers, catch some trout, build a huge fire and eat at Grateful Head Pizza; place is funky, replete with a bonfire  wood stoves and kiddie toys.

@kergo1spaceship @ChrisYu  thanks! way back when used to go to Mama's on Parker. haven't been there in years. will try the Crust in downtown.
