Stateside Pie and Beer - Louisiana Pie
Stateside Pie and Beer opened recently in Mesquite, at 1335 North Peachtree Road. The upscale sports bar's name was inspired by World War II veterans' dreams of returning home, and the interior is cloaked in mages of that "Greatest Generation." Bring your copy of Unbroken, or perhaps not because there are 23 TVs throughout the restaurant that would surely distract you. (But that was a great book and it can't hurt to carry a copy all the time anyway.)

The "pie" part of the name is of the Italian savory sorts, not hot apple or key lime. The pie menu pays homage to different flavors in different states. The Texas pizza is made with a chipotle BBQ sauce, cheese, onions, jalapeños and brisket. The Pennsylvania pie has fresh mozzarella, roasted chicken, Italian sausage, peppers and onions. Louisiana pie is served with blackened shrimp, Andouille sausage, celery and hot cherry peppers. (Wait, no okra?)

As far as the "Beer," Stateside has more than 40 craft taps, including local Dallas breweries Deep Ellum Brewing Company and Lakewood Brewery. According to a press release, the restaurant also has an exclusive private stock and "leaves no hop unturned in its carefully curated selection."

Bacon lovers will take note of cocktail menu: a Pig on the Porch has bacon-infused bourbon with ginger ale. The bar also has other classics lake Sazerac, Old Fashioneds and Mint Juleps, in addition to crowd pleasing rum punches, margaritas and beer cocktails.

Stateside sponsors a bevy of craft beer specials, like a recent case of Dogfish 120 Minute IPA, Abita Mardi Gras Bock and Sixpoint Sweet Action Cream Ale, not to mention many local kegs. They also have regular happy hour prices. And on Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., small pies are just $5.

Great place!  Just found this and had the Iowa pie because I wanted a pizza with blue cheese on it.  I couldn't believe the size of this mile high small 'pie' for $5 at lunch.  It has ham, bacon, blue cheese and corn on a thick crust.  Makes my mouth water just thinking about it!  I like a little spice so added the crushed red pepper offered then saw some Louisiana hot sauce on another table and asked my waiter for the same...a few drops later and it was pizza perfection.  I was too full to try the dessert so will have to go back for a fried s'mores or a snicker pop. It will be like going to the State Fair out of season and I won't have to wait until next September in Dallas.  The beer selection was mind boggling, and I was told about their Jack Frost that I am going to have to try...sounds like a Jack Daniels slush.  Wow.  I noticed kergo1spaceship's comment and I think this place is like going Uptown without having to go downtown (in Dallas).  It's about time we had something cool in Mesquite!
