Standard Pour, Stampede 66 and Hot Sauce: This Week In Dallas Dining
It was a busy week on CoA. Lots of comments on lots of posts. I reviewed The Standard Pour and didn't like it, and then to make up for things I cooked a delicious steak in my fireplace. (A few commenters thought this was a bad idea, and I agree, but I just might do it again anyway.)
Elsewhere on the blog, we took some first looks at Joyce and Gigi's, Si Lom and Origin Natural Food.
We also celebrated National Pie day, the English way, and watched the last remaining Dallasite whip up on Top Chef with some fried chicken.
Over on the Eats Blog Leslie Brenner stopped short of awarding five stars, but absolutely gushed about Stephan Pyles' Stampede 66, while Merritt Martin checked in with a review of the Alligator Cafe. Her verdict? Three stars.
Side Dish has a short review on Dish from Nancy Nichols. She claims it offers one of the finest menus in all of Dallas. I was there a few months ago and was quite smitten with their umami burger. Looks like I should head back.
Robb Walsh announces the release of his next book, The Hot Sauce Cookbook on Texas Eats. I've been watching as he blogs about fermented chilies and other concoctions. This looks like a fun read.
