Cafe Herrera to Open Friday at Mockingbird Station

Categories: Food News

Way back in June LDD told you that Margarita Ranch in Mockingbird Station had pulled the plug. Herrera's Cafe was to move in that fall and slather the shopping center with sour cream enchiladas.

You know how those things go. The opening was delayed like every other opening.

If you've been walking over to tug on the door once a week, though, you're finally in luck. The Tex-Mex restaurant has announced they will finally open this Friday.

"Café Herrera will open for dinner on Friday, Feb. 1 from 4 to 10 p.m. and the bar will stay open until midnight," the news release reads. It's time to get your Mockingbird combo plate on.

I was sad to see Margareta ranch close so when I saw this place open in it's place, I thought I would stop by. The place was not very busy for a Saturday but I decided to give it a try. Boy was I disappointed. The food was terrible. We all ordered beef Fagitas which we were told were the best dish in the menu.

It came out swimming in oil. One member in the party sent his back and asked to speak to the manager who was unapologetic and unsympathetic. He indicated that it was the first complaint he heard all night.... which makes me wonder how many complaints he usually hears in a night? Not to mention that it kept me up all night.

I would not bother eating here, there are plenty of good tex mex restaurants in the area and I suspect that this one isn't going to last.

I was told by the owner that the origanal Herrera's Cafe had no affiliaction with Cafe Herrea's. The do not have the same food or any part with Cafe Herrera. The original on Herrera's Cafe Maple is the only one that has been in buisness for 25 years plus. I went to web site and it metioned nothing about any new restraunt.
