So. Much. Cheese.Cuquita's
This small family chain may have closed a few locations over the years but it's not because of their food. Cuquita's serves of simple Tex-Mex that may hit the cheese a little hard, but still doesn't leave you feeling like you need medical support to get home.
These guys have the best brisket tacos in Dallas in my opinion. I love the bright crunchy vegetables, and the massive bowl of gravy they give you for dipping and dousing.

Herrera's is #1
you left these guys off the list !!! http://www.gonzalezrestaurant.com/
Posting old articles creates hits on the website. If it don't make dollars it don't make "ad"-sense. Oh, and where is Mattito's dammit?!
getting a two piece today......this should stretch it out nicely
Herrera's is so gross. I don't understand why it makes these lists.
Yes that would work!!!
How's Wednesday? we can grab some food then walk around your hood?
How often is this Dec '12 article going to be recirculated?
one of them is right next to my apartment . I love Herrars !!!!
THIS LIST MUST HAVE BEEN GENERATING BY SENIOR CITIZENS WITH NO TASTE BUDS.. SAD.. HORRIBLE LIST..
Downside, only 7 days in a week. Upside! We need more than one meal a day! :) I'm in. let's do this shiz.
No freaking way. No Ranchitos, Calle Doce, Gonzalez?? NO DEAL..
Emmanuel Lopez I think we have something to do for the next week!
Urban Rio? You just invalidated the entire list with that bullshit.
Why keep posting old articles?
No Tupinamba`s! Who sits down and makes these lists? Really!
any best Tex Mex list that does not include Gonzalez on Jefferson is a crap list..oh yea, and how about doing something new..You guys are starting to re-hash the same tired ass lists as the DMN and Star-T...hey how about a burger battle, then you guys can join the club!
Thank you for including Cuquitas- who consistently delivers the real. And RIP Escondido!
No Chuys or El Fenix!?
This list sucks
No Mia's? you fuckin' kidding me??
Top Tex-Mex in Dallas and no Tupinamba`s?? Who sat down and made this list??
Herrera's on Maple! Yay!
I love El Ranchito, first tried it about twenty years ago and it's been consistently great. It's also a perfect place to take out-of-towners on the weekend, gets quite lively inside!
Wasn't this post a week ago?
I'm hungry now
I so luv tex mex food.
I tried Pepe y Mito's based upon this list today and I was disappointed. I went simple and got the chicken fajita nachos. Not enough chicken. The chips that are used should not have. Why is there such a difference between the chips that are used with the salsa in the beginning and the chips used for nachos? I go to Fuzzy's Taco Shop and the chips used for salsa, queso, guacamole, and nachos are the same and they are awesome. Even though they are small, they stay crunchy.
@ncjks Not anymore. Back in the day, I made some pretty decent carne guisada.. ;) @romanflute
Ebar Tex-Mex! Only been open a few months and already a regular spot - http://www.ebartexmex.com.
No Mexicali or Desperados? Boo.
I can't argue with any of these. Although my all-time favorite is Pepe's & Mito's for overall awesomeness, Manny's does indeed have the best brisket tacos. And the tortillas at Cuquita's melt in your mouth.
Congratulations to Mr. Mesero.
But I wouldn't call it Tex-Mex!
Mr. Mesero...anything north of NWHwy doesn't count
Ojedas and Mias..tops
Tachito's & Gonzalez on Jefferson
Casa Milagro, as great as it is, is much more Mexican than Tex-Mex. I gather the purpose of the article was to highlight Tex-Mex establishments. Unless the writer is from... uh, New York and ill informed.
Once I saw Pepe & Mito's and Herrera's I knew this wasn't worth my time. And desperados???? lol. Taco cabana has better food.
Although Mia's is good, the rest of your comment is not true.
Hooray for Cuquitas!!!
Ojedas sucks, Herreras all the way
PS--Herrera's, but no Ojeda's OR Escondido?? Come on.
NO MIA'S?! Dallas Observer, we're OVER.
@romeolipschitz I don't deny they have quite a few authentic Mexican dishes but, have a look at their online menu. In my opinion, there's more than enough Tex-Mex dishes to still consider it a Tex-Mex restaurant.
@Dave Ybanez Yet it was worth your time to make an idiotic comment? Must suck to be you.
@Twinwillow @romeolipschitz completely missed the NY//ill informed dig. Typical.
@Twinwillow @romeolipschitz Had their rellenos multiple times. Yum. BTW, used to eat at the Mexican place in the strip on the SW corner for lunch a lot, but it closed :( Too bad, they had multiple grandmas in the kitchen, including one making tortillas.
