It's a lettuce wrap. Get it?
Have your weekend plans locked in yet? It's your last chance to party like it's 2012. I'm willing to bet most of you have already ducked out of your office this Friday, but for those of you who are still tethered to your desks, here's your weekly wrap-up.

This week I reviewed Barbacoa Estillo Hidalgo. They're only open on Saturday and Sunday, but they're worth the trek, so consider putting their lamb tacos on your weekend menu. The place is a hidden treasure.

Elsewhere on City of Ate we chronicled the year in bacon. There was a lot of bacon. We also witnessed the demise of Lucky Cat and checked out Nazca, the new South American restaurant in North Dallas.

Finally, I found some drunk cows near Houston, while Gavin visited a Fat Cow in Lewisville.

Over on the Eats Blog, Leslie Brenner reviewed J.S. Chen's Dimsum and BBQ in Plano, calling it the best dim sum around and awarding three stars. Looks like we have some new pork buns to check out soon. She's also compiled her year in reviews grouped by star ratings. No five star reviews this year, I'm afraid.

Side Dish has a dish compilation from Carol Shih. I love looking at the Dallas dining scene through her eyes.

Meanwhile the Taco Trail gives E Bar Tex Mex the ol' Tex-Meh. He's not too happy with any of the tacos he ate while sitting at the bar. We wrote about the same tacos here after they won an award in October. I hope they haven't gone that far down hill.

Maybe the cooks at E Bar need a winter break. Maybe I need one too. Come to think about it we're mighty close to quitting time. We'll see you back here next week.
