Grapevine Craft Brewery to Break Ground on New Brewery This Spring

Grapevine now has another craft brewery in the works (in addition to Noble Rey). Gary Humble, who lives in Grapevine, has been a pastor for the past 15 years and more recently has fallen in love with homebrewing. It's a natural progression, after all. The process of purifying water into beer was considered a miracle during medieval times -- just ask the patron saint of brewers, Saint Arnold.

Humble along with two investors are planning to break ground on the new brewery in downtown Grapevine in March. The Grapevine Craft Brewery will be a multilevel unit with large open spaces and plenty of room to mingle.

"The whole business plan is based on being local because we really just love the local environment here," Humble says. "And we also really want to tap into the winery market in Grapevine. We want to be the caboose to the wine tour."

Humble reports that so far he's working on a peach wheat beer called Monarch Wheat (a tribute to the local migratory path of the butterfly), which he says will be seasonal and will include spring-time Texas white peaches. "We're doing a milk stout with a coffee kick," Humble says, "and we'll also do a sweet rye IPA called Lake Fire."

Humble is looking for a head brewer. They had nabbed a guy from Austin, but he took a job in England instead. Regardless, Humble is confident that the brewery, the brewer and the beer will be ready this summer. He's emphatic that they be ready for Grapefest next year. "I cannot miss Grapefest."
