Ever hear of Lufkin? I hadn't until recently, but I'm not as Texan as some of you Texans, so I thought I'd ask.

The town 170 miles southeast of Dallas made news yesterday when Fuel City announced they'd be opening a second location of their popular gas-station-meets-car-wash-meets-taco-stand there.

It's going to be a big one. The news release claims the second Fuel City will be three times the size of the original Dallas location. Homemade tacos, a Denny's, The Original Fried Pie Shop, truck parking, showers and clean bathrooms, and gasoline will be available.

The release also claims approximately 150 jobs will be created when the new location opens at the start of the new year, in a town with a population of fewer than 40,000. I'm left to wonder how many small taqueria's and local business will be impacted by the change.

Lufkin is the county seat of Angelina County. US 59/259 runs right through it. It's about 20 miles south of Nacogdoches, county seat of Nacogdoches County and home of Stephen F. Austin State University (Ax Em Jacks). Lufkin is also generally considered the Meth capital of deep East Texas.

They will probably do a great business with the tweakers.

Other than Mi Cocina, the most overrated crap taco, Mexican food in the metroplex.

" I'm left to wonder how many small taqueria's and local business will be impacted by the change."  None, once the population samples the Fuel City taco's the first time.  They need to have plenty of bathrooms on hand too.

Fuel City Taco's are f+cking gross!  Hope they keep up with the shtick of placing a whole heard of cattle behind the place....poor Lufkin; give me Buccee's.

I take it back. The worst taco is the veggie veggie at Buzzbrew. Picked up an order this morning and when I got home I couldn't believe the inedible slop on the tortillas. Took it back and was informed Buzzbrew has a no refund policy (which when you think about it, only practically applies to take out). The potatoes were perfect ovals, obviously dispensed from a freezer pack. Should have known better when I considered the nopales and learned they were canned.

this comment made me laugh my ass off.....good job; all it takes is one trip to FC, add a few cheap beers, and next thing you know, you are "hole up" in a gas station restroom with surgical gloves, a biohazard mask, the babies wipies, +ss tampons, ice, and baby powder-to facilitate the healing process.

ps-I DID used to frequent this place when I worked down yonder, because they had chicks in Bikini's.  Hey, iff'n I'm buying beer, and gonna spend 12 bucks....I want to see some.......?  Now I go to that beverage store at Park and Greenville, hard by the old Sam's.

@kergo1spaceship It's hell when you eat there, live in Grand Prairie and have to beat it back home to take care of business.  Luckily I don't have to walk too far to the bathroom once I get home.
