Christkindl Market in Arlington Evidently Was a Huge Hit Last Year, Expands to 17 Days
Last year the Arlington Chamber of Commerce hosted the inaugural German-inspired Christkindl Market on the north side of Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The open-air street market featured crafts, gifts and German food such as sausage and strudel.

Evidently it went well. The 2012 Arlington Christkindl Market started today and lasts through December 15. Yes, 17 days. I spoke to the Arlington Chamber of Commerce to confirm this wasn't a typo, considering last year it was a paltry four days.
Turns out, vendors sold most of their products on the first day last year. So, the vendors wanted more time. Well, they got it.
More than two dozen craft tents will line the large walkway just north of the ballpark, including a Kathe Wohlfahrt store. Hand-made jewelry, art, leather, German steins, glass art, woodwork and clothing are all part of the market.
For proper German fare, Helmut's Original Austrian Strudel, Juergen's German Grill and the Old World Sausage Co. will provide sustenance; and of course, it wouldn't be a real German market without Gluhwein (mulled wine). There are also three bier gartens. Lushes.
An extensive music line-up includes everyone from the Arlington High Choir to the requisite Brave Combo on Saturday, December 8. Alpenmusikanten, the Frohsinn Kapelle German Community Band and Bernhard Kainerstovrfer will also make appearances. Not to be overshadowed, however, by the man himself -- Santa.
