Denton Love Shack Closing Doors Today

Love Shack Denton.jpg
Bye forever, egg burgers.
Tim Love, or one of his techies, announced on Twitter and Facebook an hour ago that he will be closing the Denton Love Shack location to renovate for a new concept. The closing comes as quite a surprise to many Love Shack patrons, as the restaurant famous for juicy burgers and live music has been open only for a little over 18 months. And yes, that means your free appetizer coupon is expired, sad commenter.

From their Facebook page:

Dear Love Shack fans,

As of today, October 29th, 2012, the Love Shack Denton location is permanently closed. After 18 months of business, Chef Tim Love has decided to redesign and renovate the space which will open as a brand new concept in early 2013.

Please direct all questions to info@loveburgershack.com

Thank you for your dedicated support and patronage, and we look forward to seeing you at Tim's new concept!

No word yet as to what the new concept will be, but that's where I watched Game 6 of the World Series last year so bulldoze away, Mr. Love. Bulldoze away.

Tim posted on Twitter last night that it's going to become a prime steakhouse.

Only those idiots in cowpatty town fall for this incredibily overrated short line cook.  He can't make it anywhere else. The culinary bowel  movements he tries to pass as food fools no one except the fat rednecks in Fart Worth. And he should stay there.

You guys at DO should travel a bit father west and do a story on Fuzzy's in Decatur!  Last week I saw I saw the following:

-Madge and her 7 kids pull up in an Econoline van

-A tumbleweed blow through town

Don't hate, but I went there about 8 times and I didn't like the place because:

-burgers were too small, fatty, and undercooked -for $8 I'll take a John B's burger though GH is not as good as it used to be. Food quality down, beer not cold/same taps for years, prices up.

-onion rings for $5.50? why? So $13.50 for burger and rings... add a coke and tip... $17?

-fries... I love good fries. I have had way more than my share of authentic Belgian fries. What is the concept with the small package of greasy toothpick fries?

-beer... $5 for a meh beer? $5 goes a long way at OSDHCP or even Sweetwater for a tasty brew.

To the shack's defense, I did really like the patio/open air thing. But the restaurant isn't really famous for music as the article says. Plus, if the stage acts don't draw a crowd and it is more of an open mic vibe than a venue then that is fail. There are enough open mics in Denton that cultivate amateur night and have a hip vibe the kids like. Are you a renowned burger joint, bar, a famous venue, or ? Despite the openness and patio, the place didn't have much character or welcoming vibe -too much industrial design.

Chef, what is there to experiment with a pruned down menu of pricey burgers, fries, rings, and beer? That is splitting the atom? This is a case of plopping down a restaurant with no *concept* of what works on the Denton square and being hands-off. Take a walk down Oak Street if you want a hint.

Tim Love = one of the most over rated "chefs" in America.

Way overpriced and average quality at best.

Spent almost $50 for two people for burgers, fries and a drink. That's the kind of place that will get your money one time and those who aren't suckers don't go back for a second raping.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe God INTENDED the raping?

By the way, I'm voting Republican this year, how about you?

@ScaredofClowns $50? Man, a double "dirty love" burger is $8, onion rings are $5.50, and a beer is about $5 (depends on flavor). By my maths, and they aren't the best, if you got those most expensive items on them menu each...you're still only out $38 or so.

I guess that's closer to $50 than it is to free...

@ScaredofClowns I rounded up on every price, even doubled the price of your side, and assumed it was beer not soda or tea. Were were all the 30%+ tippers when I was a server? Good on you, Mr. Generous!

Hmm, has "renovate and reconcept" become the new buzz phrase for, "We are never, ever, ever, opening again...ever?"
