Sure, Off-Site Kitchen's burger is great, but is it the best in Dallas?
In a few weeks City of Ate will transform itself from the snarky food blog you've come to know and love to a snarky burger based food blog you won't be able to resist. In addition burger how-to's, burger interviews and burger porn sultry enough to raise your blood pressure with a single look, we'll be determining Dallas' best burgers through a series of smackdowns that pit two of your favorites against each other until we have CoA's ultimate favorite.

That's where you come in.

Nominate your favorite burger in the comments below and tell us a little about why you think it's the best. At the end of the week we'll compile a list and pull the top eight burgers. Those burgers will compete in burger week, and the winner will be coined City of Ate's ultimate burger. And then we'll all take a nap.

So do you like a thick juicy patty of farm-raised beef on a well baked bun, or are you more of a paper sack burger with a poppy seed bun and a hearty slathering of mustard? Get to commenting and let us know. Burger glory is on the line.

Four of the best burgers in Dallas are located on the same street... Commerce in Deep Ellum. St. Pete's Dancing Marlin, Adair's, Twisted Root and Angry Dog...my choice St. Pete's.

Ten Bells Tavern - the egg (optional) is just gilding the lily.  All in all, a well-balanced and simple (but delicious) contender.

@Goodfriend. particularly the Loretta, the blue cheese with carmelized onion. Bun is perfect, doesn't fall apart. Colleen and Jeanna know how to cook a burger. Really well prepared.

Here is the deal- there is no better burger in Dallas than the ones at Uncle Ubers.  If you start with the basics- a great bun, a great patty, the fixins and the special coup de gras, something they call Ubers sauce.  I am not quite sure what it is but the taste of it is nothing less than, well....perfect.  I first tasted it on the burger and knew it was a perfect mix of flavors!  It led me to their other sandwiches with the sauce but the basic deal here is that when you need a burger you need Ubers.  Nothing else will do (especially the mini chain places that dot deep ellum like the Twisted Root and Buzz Brews)- the special attention that is always paid to detail at Ubers is a payoff you can't get at the other places.

YUMMMY!!!

Does "Dallas" mean only Dallas? I would think that the Dallas side would be included. Now, Burleson isn't Dallas, but Grand Prairie, yes sir. So, with that being said, Mixed-Up Burgers !!!

Uncle Uber's, by far.  The burgers are inexpensive and outstandingly delicious.  The staff is kind and the owners make it a point to support local businesses.  There is no pretension at Uncle Uber's, just good people, good food, and good prices.  We need more of that in Dallas.

Uncle Ubers in Deep Ellum is the best kept burger secret in Dallas (not for long though). It has to be considered one of the top burgers in town.

@ObserverDallas @cityofate :: Best burger = @UncleUbers, their food-porn burger photos make me drool every time, cause they taste so good!

Twisted Root burger co in deep ellum-hands down!  so many topping options, and the homemade bread and butter pickles are icing on the burger.  Plus, after dinner you can hit up the rest of deep ellum.

Ten Bells Tavern in Bishop Arts!!  Order it "Daylon Style" with a fried egg and fresh jalapenos! And the fries are uh-mah-zing!

I like how it says "Best Burgers in Dallas" and everyone who can't read is voting for "Grand Prairie" wtf?

Angry Dog HAS to be in the mix. As someone else noted, the burgers are always tasty, fresh and juicy. Prepared to order. Accompanied by generous portions of delectable fries. You can complete the meal with a cold beverage of your choice. And a friendly waitstaff adds immensely to the dining experience.

Angry Dog gets my vote. Burgers are consistently tasty, fresh and juicy. They know what they are doing and on top of that good beer is on tap!

Angry Dog. I've been going there for 13 years and the burger has been consistently great anytime I have had it. It's the place I bring new people to when they want a burger and no one has ever been disappointed.

Angry Dog - I'm so picky when it comes to burgers, and Angry Dog is the only place  that has an outstanding burger, the kind you remember from when you were young. They are  thick, juicy and perfect. And the fries are dang good too!

Angry Dog --The burger, with ketchup and mustard and fries. And a cold Ace Pear. Just thinking about it makes me happy.

Angry Dog. The meat is juicy, they always have it cooked just right. Number one restaurant I miss right now while I'm at college in the midwest.

Beck's Prime.  The prime grade meat makes for a burger that eats like a steak.

The whole problem with this concept is that the best burger is the one you cook yourself in your own back yard on your own grill.

The Chophouse Burger (in Arlington). Stop your search, get the double...don't need any fries, grab a bag of Lays. Perfection. That is all.

What do you mean "this week"?  Doesn't the Observer, the DMN, and the FWST do this year round to put easy filler fluff into each web site?  What a waste of time.

The Grape.  There are a bunch of good burgers around DFW, but there is only one BEST burger.  There is simply no contest, period.

@sullenmisty why not? An awesome burger is an awesome burger. I'm sure "Dallas" encompasses the "suburbs" !!!

@Joshsbrokendisqus to me, the burger has gone downhill since DDD.  Place is always packed, like its too busy to cook at the quality they used too, still decent but not the same

How can you give the best burger to a place that only serves it 2 days a week?

Joshstruckoutagain
Joshstruckoutagain

I stopped by on the way back from Dallass couple of weeks ago at 11:01, I was the 3rd person in the door..got my standard double Chop and it is still the finest example of ground meat I've ever tasted.  I walked out at 11:29 I think.  Got to go early like with a quality bbq joint methinks.

Does it even matter they only serve it 2 days a week?  SCamp....go there and eat it.and then submit your comment.
