Emporium Pies is now open at 314 North Bishop St. in a charming 1930's Victorian bungalow. Megan Wilkes and Mary Ganutt closed on this property back in April and have been busy making this place their new pie home. This weekend they had a quiet low-key soft opening for friends and family. But, on Tuesday evening word had obviously trickled out as many curious passers-by were stopping in; all of who were fraught with the difficult decision of which to try.

All of the pies are all made from scratch, in-house and use primarily organic ingredients. The current line-up include seven options: The Drunken Nut (bourbon pecan with a shortbread crust), The Smooth Operator (French silk with a pretzel crust), Lord of the Pies (deep dish apple with cinnamon streusel), Mr. Macintosh (apple cranberry with puff pastry crust, Mellow Yellow (lemon chiffon with crumbly ginger snap crust), Cloud Nine (three-layer crème of caramel, butterscotch custard and brown sugar meringue), and The Buttercream Gang (buttermilk pie).

Pie by the slice is $5. A whole one will set you back $30. Based on its large size, the Lord of the Pies cost a bit more.

Emporium Pies also has Lance's Secret Recipe iced tea and fresh brewed coffee, including pour over service and French press.

Last night Wilkes said that for now they're open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the week (except for Mondays), and on the weekends will open at 11 a.m. They're testing those hours right and may adjust based on traffic flow. Follow their Facebook page for updates.
