Torchy's Tacos at SMU Blvd is Now Open (Photos)
This morning, Torchy's Tacos on SMU Blvd (at Greenville) officially opened and the first 100 people in line at 7:00 a.m. received free breakfast tacos. With the new semester about to start, we all feel better knowing that some students will be well fed. Although, it may add a bit to that freshman 15. (Given our obesity trend, are we at the freshman 40 yet?)

Last night Torchy's hosted a welcome-to-the-hood, it's-so-damn-nice-to-meet-you-all party. As you probably guessed, there were lots of tacos flying around and their trademark deviled-cherub was hanging from the ceiling, looking for it's next victim.
This particular Torchy's distinguishes itself with hard liquor.They have beer-ritas, mango margaritas, some infused tequilas and lots of other boozy options. The bartenders were testing things and poured a shot of habanero-infused tequila mixed with their habanero sauce. My friend slammed it with a smile. I've never been so proud of her.
The bar at the corner of the restaurant is flanked with huge windows that open up to the patio area. It'll make for great people watching along this busy strip with a mix of both old and new establishments. Parking is, well, not easy. Wear walking shoes. You'll need it to walk off those huge tacos anyway.
As the election nears, we'll have to track sales of their Republican and Democrat tacos. My friend pointed out that the Democrat had a lot more ingredients and cost more. I pointed out that the Republican was a tube of meat. But, again, she slammed a habanera shot, so she won that night.
