White Rock Local Market
This weekend, the White Rock Local Market (WLRM) wants to tell you about the birds and the bees (and the flowers and the trees) with the hot sun up above, and, of course a thing called love. The latter part should be easy.

The Birds and the Bees Workshop, from 9 a.m. to noon at the First Unitarian Church (4015 Normandy Ave.), is all about how to raise city chickens. The discussion will include information on different breeds, nutrition, egg production, coops and the like. Caroline Fruth (of Fruth Farms Southwest) is leading the workshop. Snacks will be provided.

Also, Bob Richie will share some insight on backyard beekeeping including the supplies needed and how to start and manage a hive.

Then, at noon they're all gonna hop in a car and head out to Fruth Farms for a demonstration on how to properly and humanely process a chicken. This will last from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you'd like to partake in what could truly be a life-changing afternoon, you need to sign up quickly. They need a roll call by Friday. Make haste.

Wow. What a day.

The cost for the Birds and Bees workshop is $60, unless you're a member of the Unitarian Church, then you get a discount and it's only $30. (See. Told you we should have joined).

The chicken farm excursion is $40.

Lunch is provided for those participating in both events.

Sign up is here.
