Breakfast, Booze And Cookin' At The Grape: This Week In Dallas Dining

Better than a cheese steak
Restaurant week is wrapping up this weekend, and the weather promises to be a little more relaxed. Seems like a good time for a little patio drinking and perhapsa little pesticide bathing. Or maybe you're off to the Londoner tomorrow morning to watch the opening weekend of the English Premier League with Gavin. Either way we've got a week to wrap up before we get out of here.

This week I reviewed Rosemont, the new Deep Ellum breakfast, lunch and brunch spot by Tracy Miller. I found some beautiful plates there, but some service and cooking errors clouded my meals. Miller's other restaurant, Local, however is a pretty consistent concept. With some time, perhaps Rosemont will follow in the footsteps of its older sibling soon.

Elsewhere on CoA, we proclaimed suaqueso as the city's answer to cheese steaks, which impressed the shit out of Guy Fieri.

We also interviewed a cook from Station 50 of the Dallas Fire Department, and Michael Peticolas who's responsible for the boozy Velvet Hammer.

Over on the Eats Blog, Leslie reviews Pepper Smash, the comic book themed restaurant way, way up in Plano. She gave the space two stars but wasn't impressed with too much of the mixology. She also points out that Cedars Social has a new chef. Kyle McClellan has moved back to NYC.

On Side Dish Nancy points out the FT33's sommelier is the best in all of Texas. Matt McCallister is building a heck of a stable over in the Design District.

Entree Dallas' Rich Vana picked up a spatula and flipped some burgers at The Grape. His two part story is some of the best independent blogging going on in Dallas right now.

And the Taco Trail has a new look, and a new review of the La Banqueta location in Arlington. The suadero is as good as ever.

That's all I see this week. Check us out next week when we check out some East Dallas kebabs and figure out what the heck college kids eat.

I loved the Rosemont for breakfast. I read some of the other links you left and liked the taco guy. The Entree story was a little too self indulgent and won't be reading them again. I never liked D Magazine. They get people to pay before they do anything on them.  And finally I need to try Pepper Smash. I work close by and it is on may radar.
