Late night West Village wanderers will soon have a new place to fill their bellies. Signs in the window at 3600 McKinney Ave. foretell the arrival of Pop Diner - -and there shall be booze, as indicated by the TABC application also posted up.

The new spot will go in right alongside the previously announced Max's Wine Dive to help fill the gigantic space left by Borders, which closed in April of last year.

No word yet on when Pop Diner will open or who's behind the project.

I guess my hopes for a true N/E style Greek owned diner are still, just hopes.

In my salad days I used to stumble into an all-night diner for a grilled cheese and fries after doing the bars .

Yea, similar to Buzzbrew's. But it's not like they've got the market totally corner-boothed on food, concepts or even quality. They're a total ripoff from Cafe Brazil anyways, though the owner of BB was one of the founders.

It's something the area needs. Now just need one downtown.

Looks like similar branding to Buzz Brews...that's odd.

@Paul I wish Cafe Brazil didn't suck so much. Even when I'm drunk it doesn't taste that great.

@Whitney.Filloon I thought the same thing. I think it will be cool to have the option in the area, though.
