Rock and Roll Tacos, previoulsy just a food truck, has completed their non-hostile take over of the kitchen and dining room at La Grange in Deep Ellum. The owners of La Grange wanted out of the kitchen (admitedly not their specialty) and the owner of Rock and Roll Tacos wanted a non-mobile kitchen with more space, so they worked a deal that made everyone happy.

The menu is an expansion of what was available on the truck. New appetizers include corn elote shooters at $1.50 each, shrimp cocktail, ceviche and queso. The "music to your mouth" tacos include the full range from beef fajita, carnitas, chicken chipotle, al pastor, barbacoa and brisket, all for $2.50 each.

For a dollar more, you can up your taco enjoyment to grilled fish, Tijuana (bacon wrapped shrimp), baja fish tacos or the La Grange signature taco: fried chicken in the middle of a vanilla battered waffle and a slice of applewood bacon served with a honey habanero sauce.

There are four different specialty plates: tablitas (Mexican ribs), nachos, a "fattie" burrito and stuffed poblano peppers. They also have flautas, tortas and tostadas.

Rock and Roll Tacos keeps more hours then La Grange; they're open for lunch every day and stay open late on Wednesday and Thursday (until 11 p.m.) and even later on Friday and Saturday (until 4 a.m.). Funday Sunday brunch starts next weekend at 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

In addition to a variety of Mexican dishes, the brunch menu includes stuffed crepes, green eggs and spam, bacon-stuffed waffles with strawberry butter cream and bourbon maple syrup. There's also banana spiced French toast. Back on the patio they'll roast corn for elotes-on-a-stick. To wash all that down, they'll have sangrias, micheladas and bloody marys.

The large patio in back, which connects with La Grange, includes the fabulous grown-up sno cone stand. There are bountiful options here, especially with the music venue just next door. It could be dangerous.
