Bicycle Cafe is Indefinitely Closed. Looking for a New Owner.

On Saturday, Teresa Gubbins at Pegasus News posted that the Dallas Bicycle Café on Northwest Highway is closed. Owner Armando Guerrero, who makes his real money in construction, is taking on a big project in Mexico.

On May 12, Guerrero posted on his Facebook page that the spot is for sale. No word on any takers yet. According to Gubbins, the doors have been locked for more than a week.

Back in April, Cheap Bastard discovered the sweaty-spandex goodness of Bicycle Café, which forced her to eat healthy and begrudgingly enjoy it. Possibly her Food Iron Man training, "2-mile whiskey swim, 100-mile bacon-doughnut ride, 26-mile beer run," will get back on track now.

If you've always dreamed of owning a bicycle-themed restaurant, here's your opening.

I ride bikes. For charity rides. I do my fair share of "not a full ride" 20-mile rides around White Rock Lake so that I can wheeze through 80 miles at the MS150. And I also hate the asshole cyclists. You can ride a road bike and not be a dick-- I promise. My biggest peeve is when I see someone frowning super hard and yelling at everyone around them, "ON YOUR LEFT." "CAR BACK CAR BACK CAR BACK." If you can't have fun riding your bike around the lake, you're doing it wrong.And hey, you're right-- Bike Works is kickass! Great service. I liked it even better when I could drop my bike off there and immediately eat a couscous bucket and drink a beer at The Bicycle Cafe. I'm bummed the cafe is closed. Let's buy it and turn it into something awesomer. Ideas. Go. Bacon has to be involved. Maybe a cyclist octagon, in which asshole cyclists can get their asses beaten?

And the worst is the asshole who gets to the light and passes all the cars on the right to get all the way up to the intersection so everybody has to pass him again.
