I like 1/2 priced drink (the tie in allows me to comment, right Joe?).  I dusted off The Eagles CD/LP/Album "One of These Nights" last week, and man o' man is that good stuff.  I robably haven't listened to it in, uhhhh, probably 25 some odd years.  The five part harmonies are incredible, and the high lonesome factor (Hollywood Waltz, Lyin' Eyes, After the Thrill is Gone) is memorizing.  And it's just before Felder started becoming really a bigger factor in the band, and minimizing the great Bernie Leadon's role.  The Eagles were great because of Leadon.  A couple of weeks ago I listened to Beatles for Sale (incredible!); and next week I'm going to dust off both Combat Rock, (the Clash) and Joe Ely (Live at Liberty Lunch.  Go back into the catalog(s) folks, you'll be amazed.

Interesting note:  Country Joe Ely sang backround vocals on the Clash's big hit "Should I Stay or Should I Go Know", from Combat Rock.  The album widely influenced many bands, including U2's album War.  In the solo of said song, Mick Jones yells "split", and that is in response to Joe Ely jumping out from behind the drum kit, and trying to scare Jones while he was laying guitar tracks.

Next month I'm going to blaze through Hank Williams Greatest Hits, Robert Johnson's King of the Delta Blues and the Ramones Rocket to Russia.  Then:

-Dwight Yoakam/Buenos Noches From a Lonely Room-Rodney Crowell/Diamonds and Dirt-Dead Milkmen/Beelzebubba-Chicago/Carnegie Hall (Terry Kath was better than Hendrix)

I love the half price calendar-and yes, I am familiar with SS, he plays those great guitar licks on The Eagles "How Long".....penned by the great JD Souther. Go half price booze and eats!

Thank you Mr. Joe. I know I give you all hell, but, I really enjoy the DO.  MAYBE, living in the woods is not EVERYTHING!  But, it is crucial.

Dear Hipsters,    Get to a pine grove immediately, and read a good book.  Kergo suggests:

-Campbell/The Hero....-Thoreau/Walden-Hunter S. Thompson/Hell's Angels.......Fear and......-Wayne Gard/Chisholm Trail-Texas Almanac -Chuck-wagon Cookbook (stories from the trail drovers. and trail hands that is born of necessity and true unbridled practicality).
