To prepare for this fall's Best of Dallas® 2012 issue, we're counting down (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes. If there's a dish you think we need to try, leave it in the comments, or email me.

NHS Tavern's Cleaver and Block Burger has an unfair advantage over every other burger I've eaten in Dallas: It was the first I ate after moving here.

As I tried to adapt and withered under previously unknown heat, this burger comforted me. Maybe it was the fresh and generously applied toppings, or maybe it was that stunner of a bun. It could have been the seven Pabst Blue Ribbons I drank, too, but it doesn't matter -- the memory of that burger stays with me and likely always will.

Amazing burger cooked over wood, and fresh cut fries, not frozen.  Homemade bun with toasted sesame seeds is outstanding.

I just ate it, and it was pretty damn good. Like, meat juice running down my wrists good.  The french fry portion is absurd though, who the hell can eat that many!?

I prefer poppy seeds on buns, but no matters, as I haven't been able to eat that much meat, grease and salt in one sitting for a very long time.  A listing of its non-nutritional content may set a city record for the bad stuff to mass ratio, though the lettuce and tomato may lower the score.
