100 Favorite Dishes, No. 92: Regina Margherita At Cane Rosso

Cane Rosso Marg.jpg
To prepare for this fall's Best of Dallas® 2012 issue, we're counting down (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes. If there's a dish you think we need to try, leave it in the comments, or email me.

Last year Cane Rosso's pizza made our 100 Favorite Dishes list when it was still a humble mobile oven, wheeled around the city behind a pick up truck. Now the pizzas are available in a full-service sit-down restaurant with beer and wine.

The pies have only gotten better. The crust is more airy, delicate and less filling because Dino Santonicola, an Italian borne pizza pro increased hydration and the temperature at which he ferments the dough. Sit at the bar that wraps around the oak burning oven and watch the master work with a cold Peroni draft. You're eating Dallas' best pizza.

I don't understand how people like this place. It is not Italian pizza. I lived in Europe, I had the good stuff. The pizza is soggy, has no support so everything falls off. The crust isn't done good at all. Their brunch is HORRIBLE. Don't even get me started on how terrible our food was and service this past Sunday. It is not the best pizza by far. Serious is better but it's a different breed of pizza. First time I had the Margherita pizza and it blew. I gave them a 2nd chance Sunday and it was even worse than previously.

Cane Rosso has the best pizza in Dallas. By far!And the Regina Margherita is my favorite pie there. I like mine with added hot Sopressata.

Love that pizza.  Best margherita I have had in the USA.

Definitely Dallas' best pizza, hands down, in my book.
