Total Wine is Coming to Dallas, and Bringing Its Fine Array of Kegs and Cheap Booze with It

Maryland-based beverage superstore Total Wine is coming to Dallas. The new store, to be located in the shuttered Office Depot location in Park Lane (9350 North Central Expressway), builds on the more than 80 stores the chain has opened in ten states. The recent expansion will add stores to Texas, New Mexico and Washington.

As a veteran of keg parties, I've spent more of my fair share at several of the Virginia locations. They always carried a wide selection of kegs ready to go for the weekends. Having a Cinco De Mayo party? They've got a keg for that. Celebrating Oktoberfest? They'll have a bunch of German brews, too.

Wine is really why I shopped there, though. Total Wine doesn't have the romance of a nice neighborhood wine shop, but it carries lots of wine brands on the cheap. Cheap booze is something we can all drink to, and Edward Cooper, the chain's spokesman, says competitive pricing is where Total Wine will beat other large beverage retailers in Dallas.

"I think we can be very competitive," he says. Cooper claims customer service and selection will be superior, too. The staff endures a multi-week training session and regular tasting events similar to the employees of rivals Sigels and Spec's.

The 20,000-square-foot store is expected to open sometime this summer.

I loved going to the Richmond VA Total Wine they always had a good selection and I got most of my kegs there.  I can't wait until they open, I'm not a big fan of Specs after St. Patricks day debacle and not ordering my keg that I put in 2 weeks in advance.  Luckily Deep Ellum Brewery came through and delivered the keg in a pinch even texted me that it was on it's way to Specs. I just plan never to shop there again.

Good to see that making Dallas "wet" has really spread the development of those dry areas that had screamed for years

Correction, the Total Wine store will be located in the shuttered Office Max , not Office Depot, location.

Next to the relocated Toys R Us...goodies for the kids next to goodies for the adults.

Don't miss the Grand Opening.  I stumbled across one in Scottsdale and walked out shitfaced.  100+ free Tasting Tables, including $100 wines.  Oh!  What a day!

First Specs moves in, now Total Wine, I like this...gives the idiots at Sigels and Centennial a run for their money, serves them right for trying to pinch local stores over the beer/wine initiative awhile back

The real idiots are the corrupt "distributors" and the money they spend in Austin lobbying for themselves to be able to set prices and be the "middleman". Thus forcing us to pay more and not be able to buy wine from out of state retailers. And, not allow us to bring our own wine and beer, etc to restaurants that already serve wine and beer, etc.

I find it hard to believe that they will beat the prices at Beverage Depot.
