Texas Craft Cocktail Event Coming to Dallas

Categories: Drinking, Events

Attention all bourbon enthusiasts, gin guzzlers, Manhattan drinkers and budding mixologists: a massive four-day craft cocktails event is coming to Dallas June 14 through June 17; The brainchild of local booze magicians Brian McCullough (Smoke, The Standard Pour) and Nico Ponce (The Chesterfield), the event is brought to you by the local chapter of the United States Bartenders Guild.

Uptown's Stoneleigh Hotel will serve as home base for the event, with a kickoff party on Thursday night. Friday and Saturday will see educational classes and seminars on such subjects as molecular mixology and ice carving being held at the hotel, in addition to tasting rooms by brand sponsors including Hendricks, Milagro and Stoli featuring their spirits in up-and-coming cocktails from bartenders hailing from Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio. There will also be cocktail dinners and special happy hours held at restaurants and bars around town.

Saturday, June 16, downtown's Main Street Gardens will host an outdoor festival with live music, local vendors and a USBG competition featuring 36 bartenders from all over the state competing in six drink categories. Sunday will wrap up the event with a boozy brunch and conclude with a tiki party at The People's Last Stand.

Ticket information will be available soon, but expect both package and individual event options. A portion of the proceeds will go to the American Heart Association's Youth Foundation. Check the event website at www.craftcocktailstx.com for more info soon.

Why would anyone purchase tickets to seminars that don’t seem to exist?  If you look at their schedule online, while they have the timeframe blocked out, they don’t tell you what the topic is.  Maybe I don’t want to go to a seminar where Bryan teaches us how to Basket Weave!

Ugh! Enough with the fucking fedora already!!!!

Dallas Bartenders have made significant inroads as of late with their Cocktail Culture.  One can only hope that Brian and Nico can truly deliver on the proposition, with this Event.  Should they fail, they risk muting all the good news coming out of Dallas, about the Cocktail Scene.  With sixty-four days to go before, launch, it seems unfortunate that they have no specific details about the Seminars, Tasting Rooms and the like.  I hope that these two have not allowed their ego to get the best of them.
