A French blog, Convergence Alimentaire, has assembled a road map of the 10 largest multinational brands that run a racket on supermarket shelves. From the Convergence Alimentaire website (after a quick drive through Google translate):

Hundreds of brands that we find on the supermarket shelves give the impression that our money goes to many different companies. But that's not the case: a large majority of these brands are owned by a handful of companies. The following chart provides an overview of where our money actually goes.

It's not completely updated with recent purchases, and it's really just the tip of one endcap, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I don't understand why Proctor and Gamble is even on this chart. Looks like the only "food product" they own is Pringles. Is Convergance Alimentaire suggesting that we're busy eating toothpaste and dishsoap?
