Today is National Pancake Day, and IHOP is Giving Away Free Short Stacks

It's National Pancake Day. Sort of like when it was National Tater Tot Day at the Ore-Ida factory a while back. Actually, according to one website, February 28 is National Chocolate Soufflé Day and yesterday was Kahlua Day (can't believe I missed that). Everyday is something. (Heads up: Frozen Food Day is March 6).

What we like to see is someone big throwing their weight behind a "day." That lends it some credibility. Which is the case at IHOP, where today each guest can receive one short stack on the house. And, as you waddle out, you can donate a few bucks to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

The most amazing thing about this celebration was a "Celebrity Wake-Up Call." According to the IHOP website, you could have registered for a wake up call from a celebrity to remind you of the pancakes. Sadly, the sign-up period has closed. Oh well: Your short stack still awaits.

Can you imagine the scene about from about 5-7 PM when every indignant, and dirty person from North Texas was piling into a local IHOP-for a free stack?   I'd just spend the moola, and get something decent at Whataburger-sir. Free stack is akin to Tax Free Weekend.........it's not even a blip on my radar.

I'm a big fan of the IHOP batter, but not a big fan of any National Pancake Day or any other day where they're giving away free food. Why? I hate waiting in lines. Who goes to IHOP for just the pancakes anyways?

I made my own pancakes Sunday, and they are infinitely better than anything IHOP craps out.

I did effhead!  Nice way to have the friends like yer comment.....OLD trick-sir. I made pancakes Saturday, and yup, they were better exponentially than that pile of homogenized shite that IHOP serves.  IHOP, where Walmart eats.  Last time I went to said establishment I dropped $40.00 on four people; IHOP tasted better when it was cheap. Jes sayin'.
