Sample Seven Different Irish Whiskeys (But Not All at Once) at The Idle Rich Pub's Tasting

Categories: Drink This

Well this should be sober. The Idle Rich Pub on McKinney is hosting its annual Irish Whiskey Tasting on Monday, January 16, from 6 to 8 p.m.

This is a casual, free-flowing event with no formal presentations or lectures. They'll provide an information packet and a tasting guide. Smell, swirl, sip, do whatever it is that Irish whiskey drinkers do at your own leisure.

Reservations are strongly suggested, since the event typically sells out (call them at 214.965.9926). The $25 cost per person covers the whiskey, cheese and some gratuitous giveaways such as glassware, books, and t-shirts from the distilleries.

Here's the whiskey line-up:

Connemara 12 Year Peated
Powers 12 Year
Bushmills Malt 10 Year
Midleton Very Rare
Jameson 18 Year

The cheese tray will include a whiskey cheddar, cashel blue, Irish smoked salmon and a mature Irish cheddar.

Tell your boss Joe he needs to invite his old buddy Pete Kotz to this. Pete is a big fan of Irish whiskey.

I'm a fan of Canadian Whiskey......the kind that could eat steel; and tastes like wood oak aged dirt.  Does that count?  The Kerg dad used to purchase this by the gallon, and that sh+t smelled like a Lake Lavon Porto Pottie, with feminine products and throw up floating on top.  Ma'am.

I see Pete's Jameson Google-news alert is still up to date.
