Before She Goes Vegan, Our Five Favorite Paula Deen Recipes (Or Are They Murder Plots?)

Oh, Paula, Paula, Paula. What happened? One day we're fat and happy making ooey-gooey monkey bread, the next we're being secretly photographed eating a burger on a cruise ship. Our gluttony has caught up with us.

But Paula and I go way back. Ours is a tried and true relationship, whipped together one cuppa sugar at a time. So before she switches over to whatever low-sugar, taste-like-cardboard treats, let's reflect on what we've shared.

Here are my top five recipes, for butter or worse.

5. Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes (photo above)
Highlights: This fall favorite calls for a box of cake mix (less work), two sticks of butter and a package of cream cheese. If you thought you liked pumpkin pie, make this once and you'll have a new Thanksgiving Day staple.

4. Gorilla Bread
Highlights: This recipe calls for one can of refrigerated biscuits (less work, again), and while there's only half of a stick of butter, I'm sure you could go ahead and throw the whole thing in. It also calls for a cup of packed brown sugar and a package of cream cheese. Once my friend and I ate this on the way to run in Palo Duro Canyon. That's the awesome thing about running -- you think you can eat whatever you want. I guess we all have that problem sometimes though.

3. Lemon Blossoms
Highlights: These lemon-kissed pillows are made with a box of pudding and cake mix, then dunked in a citrus powdered-sugar glaze that accumulates in little pools on the top. They are a great springtime treat, but if spring isn't available, another season is.

Paula's biggest mistake? Eating a cheeseburger on a cruise. Now I can't trust ANYTHING about her anymore!

So Paula's "receipes" are take process food crap products and dump a lot of fat and sugar in them and volia! Crap processed foods with a lot of fat and sugar.

No talent cooks like Dean always use fat and sugar cover up for their lack of talent and technique.

Humblebrag alert: I've been to Paula's restaurant and bought the wifey a few of her books..my favorite recipe of hers is the sausage and grits and 2nd fave would be the hoecakes.. Everything in moderation! Except for beer, no need to moderate that.

Not Yo' Mama's Banana Pudding has become a holiday staple for my family. Oh gosh it's so good. I like to make it with strawberries instead of bananas every once and awhile.

Hey the LDD,     That Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding looks so good, it'd make you want to beat your mother in law's ass!  Welp, that's about as country as I can get.  Time to start making the chicken parm. (with smoked BBQ sauce).ps-You forgot skillet fried apple pie.

I'll take whatever makes me look like a whale, please?  Also, could I get quivering leg fat also?  The kind that shimmers in it's pock marked goodness. I like the sweet stuff with gallons of lard-if'n it tastes like a boat oar, or EVEN is remotely healthy,  I don't want it!

Go Walmart Fat!

What?  No Kergie out....I'm just checking scores on ESPN, and looking at local radar.  Maybe load up the car, the kayak, and chicken parmesan and go up "norf".

I've seen several, the last one I watched she put cream in her girts! Now that's healthy.

Not talent, not technique, no knowledge just a product of a corporate marketing department.

the trick is NOT to submerse said product in oil; pat it with napkins just after it's cooked........AND the key is in the secret spices, and that great sauce (red or sweet n' hot BBQ)
