Marquee Grill's Pomegranate Sling: Laird's Applejack brandy, sweet vermouth distilled in chai tea, lemon, simple syrup and pomegranate juice, garnished with three dried rosehips

The holidays are here, and restaurants and bars around town have broken out their seasonal boozing menus. So I went on a pub crawl and explored some of Dallas' best wintry concoctions over the past couple of weeks, stopping at The Library Bar, Windmill Lounge, Bolsa, Meddlesome Moth, Marquee Grill, SWIG and Black Swan Saloon, encountering both traditional and original holiday-themed drinks.

Check out some photos after the jump and the full Winter Cocktails of Dallas slideshow here.

Bolsa's Rita Rioja: Beet puree with white wine, salt and pepper mixed with Patrón, triple sec, lime and orange juice, garnished with a lime rind

The Library Bar's Baked Apple Pie: Malibu coconut rum, Apple Pucker, topped with apple juice served straight up with a dash of whipped cream and a cherry

Bolsa's Forbidden Kiss: muddled apples, honey water, lemon juice, Cruzan Spiced Rum and a pinch of cinnamon

You lost me at "sweet vermouth distilled in chai tea"

Taking top shelf booze (especially the very expensive kind) and slopping it in concoctuion with syrupy mixes, fizzy liquids, fruit, and other alcohol, is the equivalent of taking prime aged beef and smothering it in ketsup or steak sauce..............
