As Scott wrote about last week, Guy Fieri is in town to shoot episodes for his show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives at Maple and Motor and Pecan Lodge.

We caught word that they also filmed at Chop House Burgers in Arlington yesterday. I called Chef Kenny Mills today.

"I'm living the dream," said Mills, who worked at The Capitol Grille, Sullivan's and Dallas Chop House before opening his little burger joint in central Arlington.

The episode will air sometime in February. I asked Chef Mills if he's going to expand some more (he already has once) after the show airs.

"They told me I needed to," said Mills, "They said it'll increase my business so much after being on the show that I'll probably need to expand again. If everything worked out correctly and the numbers were right, I might consider it."

Guy wasn't the only celebrity at Chop House yesterday though.

"Earl Campbell was here too," said Mills of the football great. "I make my gumbo with Earl Campbell sausage instead of andouille, and Guy is a big fan of Earl Campbell, so he worked the deal to get Earl to come up here."

"So, he was here and we made the gumbo. Earl liked it so much he asked for a gallon to take home back to Austin."

It all added up to a pretty exciting day for a burger joint.

"It was a really big day. I've done a lot of things in my 33 years in the restaurant business, but this was by far the coolest," said Mills

Fieri and the crew of DDD wrapped up the day at Dough Pizzeria. Per the restaurant's Facebook page:

Guy Fieri & Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives crew chose to eat at Dough Pizzeria last night while in town filming. Guy said that he eats at a lot of places obviously but that Dough San Antonio made a lasting impression on him when he filmed there earlier this year & he had to try it again in Dallas. Guy told us, "You guys are hitting it out of the park". Thanks Guy & DDD crew for honoring us last night.

Oh & he likes truffle oil.

Of course he does.

Update 2:58 p.m: Chef Tim Love, of Lonesome Dove and The Love Shack, just tweeted the following:

They filmed at Afrah (in Richardson) on Monday; the restaurant put some pictures up on Facebook within the last day or so.

don't get me wrong, this dude is totally silly but come on it's a schtick. it's tv...and he's getting paid a ton of money. we'd all do it too. it's not to hard to look at him and just laugh.

i don't watch DDD too much, but damn I've found some incredible places to eat while traveling or in the middle of freakin Michigan or Kansas or some random-ass place b/c of this show. particularly with the early days. i dont watch for Guy, i watch for food and the kind of joint they're at.

people are offended that a tv personality is a goofball?

Who the hell cares about Guy Fieri? He's a narcissistic, simple-minded, homophobic, anti-Semite hack. He's not cute and his jokes have never been funny. While the show is good, he makes it unwatchable.

Agreed, but somehow he's grown on me like a parasite. Similar to Rachel Ray. I don't like these people but Food Network kept forcing them down my throat TWSS.

99% sure he was at Il Cane Rosso today in Deep Ellum around 11:45.

I remember when the Food Network had chefs who could actually cook. Ahh, the good ol days.

Never trust the taste of someone who hasn't changed their hair style and how they dress from when they were in the Jr. High.

But who else is gonna be Mayor of Flavortown, USA?

Odds are he was a generic nobody in school and adopted his Smashmouth look well into adulthood.

"The Great Earl Campbell" is how it should appear in print.  Everytime.  "The Tyler Rose" is also acceptable.

I have to get over there to Chop House burgers asap...and the place off of 360 that puts all there adds into the meat.

The burgers at Patty Shack  aren't the only bargain, check out their beer prices - especially selected drafts after 5:00.  Non draft is still a bargain too.

Grease Monkey makes a good burger, but I prefer the hot dogs there. Well...and the cheap booze. Laura behind the bar will take care of you.

Yep. Nice patio, open air bar section, and a section of the bar opens to the sidewalk, as well. $2 beers ain't bad in my book.
