Now Open: Del Frisco's Grille on McKinney (Photos)

The Venue: If Chef Tiffany Derry at Private Social needs to borrow a cup a' sugar from a neighbor, the new uptown Del Frisco's Grille would probably be her best bet. The two modern glass-heavy storefronts split the remodeled section of One McKinney Plaza with Del Frisco's Grille taking up 8,350 square feet on two levels of the building.

The Scene: Uptown McKinney high-end crowd. While the grille is a new, more casual concept than Del Frisco's formal steak houses, it's still upscale. This is the second location of its kind; the first opened in Rockefeller Center in NYC this past summer.

The Grub: Assorted appetizers (cheese steak eggrolls, deviled eggs, ahi tuna tacos), flatbreads, salads, "two-fisted sandwiches," steaks, schnitzel, meatloaf, pork chops and salmon. Plus they have an extensive wine and cocktail list.

Highlights: Two bars and an outdoor patio make this a great place to watch the scene on McKinney Avenue. The modern interior and open kitchen is swank and the food looks phenomenal.

Does that pizza have a whole wheat crust.  From the pictures it looks a lot like Palominos.  Did you eat anything you liked?

Is that lady with the annoying cackle going to say"OOOOo, ohhh!!".  Dee Lincoln, that's her!  Actually, she was at 121 Marina last time I checked....yuckin' it up with the Lake Trash. Is Lake Lewisville a magnet for folks with:

-t shirts with the arms cut off?-cacklin' ciggy mama's with giant arms?-strippers?-fat white guys with boats?

I dunno, just askin'.

ps-Let's make crab cakes for dinner tonight.  Best three types of crab cakes:

-Cajun (3 pepper-mmm!)-North End (Bahhhston style; actually, North Shore style) -Chesapeake

Hey Primi... I know it sounds crazy. And it is. But, I rarely eat at the places I do "first looks" at. There are a variety of reasons, like that a lot of people don't think it's fair to judge a place on it's first day open, two, I'm not a food critic (Scott reviews places a month of so after they open). And three, well, sometimes places are pricey. I'm just putting it out there that it's open. (Actually, we were going eat at Del Frisco's, but had to leave b/c when I went they were having a friends and family only. Nothing like getting asked to leave... Not their fault, but there was a little bit of "Fine! I didn't wanna eat there anyway!" :)

Other than making them, can I get a good crab cake around here?

Also, those ahi tuna tacos look awesome.

Steve Fields Steakhouse has a pretty damn good blue crab crab cake. Best I've had here. i haven't had the Oceanaire, I have had Houston's.

The best (no filler) crab cakes in Dallas can be found at Houston's and Oceanaire. Bring a lot of money with you.

I love the raw Ahi tuna tacos at the Velvet Taco. They use a multi layer iceberg lettuce shell rather than a corn taco shell.Much better!

You know, I've never even had crab cakes in Dallas......I wait until I'm in Houston, or Boston sir.  Heck man, I just make em.

Pizza looks good also!

Oceanaire's are outstanding, I'll vouch for them. The whole restaurant is actually quite excellent considering it's a chain (the horror!) and our non-proximity to ocean that churns out more than shrimp.

I'll bet those wanton shells really make a taco over the top :)

Del friscos is using wanton shells not corn tortillas. They are awesome!
