The Dallas Farmers Market Stakeholders Association is expanding the farmers market this Saturday in an effort to "Revive, Reinvent and Re-energize." The Inaugural Harwood Street Market will be directly across from shed number 3 at 1015 Harwood and will host local artists, musicians and food vendors.

Teresa Gubbins has an interesting interview with the folks at The Farmers Market Stakeholders Association who are organizing this event. Their spokesperson, Tanya Ragan, told Gubbins that through an investigation her group discovered that $6 million dollars from a 2006 bond to revitalize the market was never spent:

"It's crazy to think you have this money available to put into a facility that people believe in and it's isn't happening. The Harwood Market is a way for Stakeholders to do something to show the city and market what a small group of people is capable of doing. Hopefully they'll take a look at this."

The Harwood Street Market is this Saturday, November 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food trucks, local bakers, artists, holiday crafts, and live music from Tweed EQ and The Roomsounds.

The second Harwood Street Market is on December 3 and, if all goes well, will continue in 2012.
