Food For Thought, Young Dallas Lawyers' Food-Centric Benefit, Brings Out Big-Name Chefs This Weekend
The Dallas Association of Young Lawyers hosts its third annual Food for Thought on Saturday at The Tower Club, where guests can buy goodies in the silent and live auctions and sample fare from a number of top-notch local chefs and restaurants.
The event is a benefit for Big Thought, an education nonprofit. The featured chefs and restaurants include John Tesar, The Commissary; Brian C. Luscher, The Grape; Tiffany Derry, Private Social; Matt McCallister, formerly of Stephan Pyles; Samir Dhurandhar, Coal Vines and Nick and Sam's; Lisa Garza, Taste Studio; and Khanh Dao, Pho Colonial. Daryl "Moose" Johnston, FOX analyst and former Dallas Cowboy, will be honored that night with DAYL's Gavel of Excellence award for "his significant contributions related to SLANT 45, the youth education program of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee."
We chatted with Tiffany Derry to find out more about Saturday's event. "Expect an evening of delicious food created by some of Dallas' finest chefs," she said. "One of the tastes I will be serving up is crispy pork belly, but I am excited to see what the others are going to be serving too."
The important thing about the event is the cause, not the eating, she adds. "Funding for education is being cut across the nation, even here in Dallas, so every little bit helps. The kids we impact today are going to be the lawyers, doctors, chefs, etc. of Dallas in the future. I think it's important to help out in the community we reside in."
